Introduction of the GXOpen Task Force

GXOpen was created as an ARTech initiative and is currently maintained by users of the GeneXus  community: GXOpen Task Force, introduced in this issue.

The team is formed by: Francisco Javier Cruchaga (franja), Cristhian Gómez (urulinux), Gabriel Icasuriaga (masternet).

Francisco Javier Cruchaga (franja@adinet.com.uy)

Javier is 44 years old and has been working with GeneXus for 10 years. He first came across the tool in 1994, when he used the 3.3 DOS version. He currently develops using GeneXus Yi.

"I've lost track of the number of systems I've developed and the fires I've put out", says Javier.

Javier became involved in the GXOpen project at its early stages.

He is married and has four children. His hobbies are black and white art photography and cinematography (photography, editing, and scripts).

Cristhian Gómez (urulinux@adinet.com.uy)

Cristhian is 25 years old and approached information technology for the first time when he took a PC Operator course at the age of 15. Since he was 18 years old he has worked for BCN Informática, where he is currently in the support and development department.

He discovered GeneXus when he joined BCN. At the beginning of 2001 he took the GeneXus Analyst course, and "it changed my life".

In 2002 he came across GXOpen but admits he was not enthusiastic about it until he actually grasped the GXOpen spirit. He has kept track of the site since then.

Cristhian says that what he values most about the GXOpen site is "Being in the kitchen and being able to take part in determining the future of the site in some way, by improving it for the community to make a better use of it ".

He lives with his girlfriend, they have a four-year-old daughter and they are expecting a baby. His hobbies are boxing and spending plenty of time playing with his daughter.

He is currently attending an Information Technology Analyst course at ORT University. His areas of interest are Java J2EE, Mono Project, eXtreme Programming, GeneXus and Linux.

Gabriel Icasuriaga (masternet@gxopen.com)

Gabriel is 36 years old and has taken System Analyst and Programmer Analyst courses at ORT University.

This is how he came across GeneXus: "One Friday evening a long time ago, I saw a friend working with a tool I did not know. He lent me the manual and said: "this is GeneXus , if you like it, we can talk again on Tuesday". "By Tuesday it was very clear to me that I wanted to work with this tool, it was the 3.3 DOS version."

"Once I said that GeneXus is addictive, just like milk caramel (a Uruguayan sweet), and I repeat it, I am addicted to GX", says Gabriel.

He learned about GXOpen through Ariel Isola and Hebert Orofino, who told him about the community site. Gabriel says he has always been interested in information technology communities.

He is married and has two children. His information technology interests besides GeneXus are virtual communities, social network research and network theory. He spends his free time doing carpentry and has managed to put up a small workshop. As for his favorite sports: car racing and martial arts. In soccer, only Peñarol.
