Settings

To assure a good operation of both components take into account the following:

Rights
GXplorer\Gxquery Web and GXplorer\Gxquery Services execute over IIS (Internet Information Services) that must allow anonymous access. The user with which IIS executes the application is setup in IIS in the Directory security, Annonymous Access application properties.
This user must have rights over the following:

  • The Temp directory where the temporal metadata is copied (read). This is the Windows Temp directory or a different one, if this was specified in the Settings Utility.
  • The directory where the catalog and the metadatas are located (write).

The installer by default when selecting the Web or Services components assigns those rigths to the default catalog. Remember to check right again if the catalog location is changed.

Besides, this user (the default value is Internet Guest Account) must have the following DCOM Launch and Activation Permissions for the DCOM application KBWrapper.Wrapper:

Local Launch

Allow

Local Activation

Allow

In order to configure these permissions you must go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Component Services. DCOM application KBWrapper.Wrapper properties can be accessed expanding the tree on the left until Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> DCOM Config (right button -> Properties).

Windows 2003 Server
If you are going to install the Web interfaces in a Windows 2003 Server operating system, you must take into account a couple of additional settings in IIS (Internet Information Server).

  • Enable the execution of ASP applications. For this, you must go to IIS Web Services Extensions directory and enable the Active Server Pages
  • Enable the access to files with ADTG extension. In IIS, this is enabled as follows. Over Default Web Site, right clic on Properties and in the HTTP Headers tag, press the MIME Types button and add the ADTG extension.

Windows Vista or Higher

If you are using Windows Vista or higher, make sure you have enabled the IIS6 metabase interface.

To run the setup, use the Run as administrator option from the contextual menu.

GXplorer\GXquery Web and Services (Client Side)

  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher version with Microsoft Office 2000 Web Components or higher version.
  • Firefox 1.5 or higher version.

Settings

To assure a good operation of the Web interface take into account the following:

Cookies

To obtain a right performance of the Web interfaces you must enable the 'Allow per session cookies' option on Internet Explorer settings. The settings are established on the Internet Explorer in Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level .. And you must at least enable the per-session cookies type.

Besides, when using the Office Web Components to display the results take into account the following:

Controles ActiveX and Plug-ins

The following options must be enabled from the Browser in Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level ..

  • Download signed ActiveX controls: Enabled.
  • Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enabled.
  • Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enabled.

Access to Data Sources across Domains
Another setting that must be established to get a correct performance of the Web Interfaces is to allow the access to data sources across domains (Access Data Sources across Domains). The settings must be established by using the Prompt parameter if you want a confirmation before proceeding to access another domain or the Enable parameter if you want a direct access. The settings in Internet Explorer are established as follows:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level ..
In case this option is not enabled (Disable), when attempting to solve a query, an error will return indicating that it is not possible to access the indicated domain.

Office Web Components 2003 and authentication
If you are using Microsoft Office Web Components 2003 for the Pivot Tables and charts of the query, you must change the default settings of the User Authentication Internet option. This can be made from
Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level .. You must setup the Logon option value in Automatic Logon with current username and password.

GXplorer\GXquery Web y Oracle

If you use the Web Interface with an ORACLE data base, the Data Source used to get information from the database must have the same name as the service that makes reference to ORACLE. This option is setup in the Settings utility. Otherwise, the following error occurs when trying to solve the query:

DataView - Refresh - GXplWorkQueryCreateXML: VB Error: -2147467259- ORA?12154: TNS:could not resolve service name - Line: 280

E.g.: if in the server where the product resides you set that the service that makes reference to ORACLE is SrvORACLE, you will have to create a system Data Source called 'SrvORACLE' that points at the relational data base.
