A repository manager is a specialized server application designed to manage repositories of binary components. These tools store software assets, manage the versioning of those assets and also handle dependency management between versions of different assets.

An example of this is Sonatype's Nexus, which is compatible for hosting packaged Modules, that is, it acts as a Modules Server.
