When your workspace is open, you will see the following interface:

GeneXusNext-Workspace

To start developing a new application, you have to create a new Knowledge Base. To do so, you have several alternatives. For example:

  • Press the New Knowledge Base button included on the Start Page
  • Select File > New > New Knowledge Base from the main menu

Next, in the New Knowledge Base dialog that is opened, type a Knowledge Base (KB) Name.

The sample application that will be defined throughout this document is a real but simplified application for a pharmacy. Therefore, it makes sense to call the Knowledge Base “Pharmacy” or “PharmacySystem”, for example.

Keep all default settings to generate the application programs and the necessary programs to create and maintain the database.

Click on the “Create” button to create your Knowledge Base.

Then, you will see the following:

GeneXusNext_KBRecentlyCreated

  1. A window on the left called KB EXPLORER containing a tree with some nodes inside.
  2. The Start Page.
  3. A window on the right where you can switch between:
    • Viewing and configuring properties.
    • Showing a Toolbox with available controls to be inserted.
    • Opening an AI ASSISTANT to help you to solve several definitions.
  4. The Output window (displays the output of the actions performed).
