Send Knowledge Base to GeneXus Server (X Evolution 3)

The Send Knowledge Base to Server operation is used when you have a local Knowledge Base and want to publish it in a GeneXus Server instance so it can be served as a team working GXserver Knowledge Base.

After creating your local Knowledge Base follow these steps:

• Go to the Send Knowledge Base to Server option located under the File option.

• A dialog will show up where you'll have to enter the GXserver url and the Knowledge Base alias. Keep in mind that this alias must be unique in the GeneXus Server (you can check the existing alias at the GXserver's default page).

             Notes:

• You can choose to export all versions through the check box "All versions in Knowledge Base". Otherwise, the active version will be sent.
• When Using GeneXus X Evolution 2 or higher, you can choose to Work with Lock or Merge model. By default the Merge model is selected, to select the Work with Lock model you can check the box "Work With Lock Model". • After clicking Send GeneXus will gather all the necessary information from the local Knowledge Base to send it to GXserver. Depending on the size of the KB, this process may take a few minutes.

• Check the Team Development output section for further information; you should get a success message. (If do not, see GeneXus Server Common Issues)
  
  

• Your Knowledge Base is now served by the selected GeneXus Server instance (the operation Send Knowledge Base to Server is no longer available under File option), so other users can 'connect' to it by executing the Knowledge Base from GXserver operation (from the IDE or using Team Development MSBuild Tasks) and selecting the recently uploaded KB. Also, notice that your local KB is now linked to the one on the GeneXus Server. This means that now on, you will be able to work in a team working environment by updating and committing your changes.
  Note: Strictly speaking, which is uploaded to the server is the 'active' version.  

Note: once a Knowledge Base has been sent to GXserver from that client, the option “Send KB to Server” will be disconnected from the File menu.
